Friday Night Babysitting at LMS: In an effort to preserve the sanctity of our Friday night davening, babysitting for children, ages 2 1/2 through 10 years old, is available in the upper level double classroom. This room is supervised by adults with child care experience. Parents should escort their children to the room upon arrival and pick them up at the conclusion of davening. In the interest of safety, children may not leave the room until picked up by a parent. Please do not allow your children to play in hallways during services.  

    

Mi sheberach l'cholim

To assure proper decorum during the mi sheberach l'cholim in the main minyan, please submit names of ill individuals for whom you wish a prayer recited by noon on Friday or noon erev Yom Tov at the LMS website, www.lmsonline.org, by clicking on the Membership/Forms link and then on the Mishaberach  Submission link or by going to http://lmsonline.org/cholim.htm.

Midreshet Yom Rishon this Sunday, February 5th 

Midreshet Yom Rishon is pleased to present a lecture by Shuli Taubes, faculty at SAR High school, on Sunday, February 5th, at LMS. The title of the shiur will be: "The Chosen: The Tragedy of Hevel and the Triumph of Yosef". There will be a bagel brunch at 9:30 a.m. followed by the shiur at 10 a.m. in the Beit Midrash. Complimentary babysitting is available for children ages 1+.

 

Tu B'Shevat Celebration on Tuesday, February 7th

The LMS Sisterhood, Education Committee and Bnei Akiva invite you to a special Tu B'Shevat Celebration and Dinner. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. There will be holiday-themed children's crafts from 5:30-6:00 p.m. The program followed by a dairy dinner will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. $5/person with a $30 family maximum. RSVP no later than Sunday evening, February 6th, by emailing gwen@lowermerionsynagogue.org.

 

Zumba at LMS has returned Wednesday evenings  

Women are invited for Zumba on Wednesday nights from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Social Hall. No prior experience is necessary. $8/class (a % benefits the Sisterhood).

 

Tea & Torah on Shabbat, February 11th

There will be a Tea and Torah, on February 11th, at 3:30 p.m., at the home of Ira and Naomi Sved. Miriam Coren will be the speaker.

 

Film Screening on Motzei Shabbat, February 11th

Kollel Yom Rishon on Sunday, February 12th

Kollel Yom Rishon is pleased to host Rabbi Yonason Sacks on Sunday, February 12th. Rabbi Sacks will speak on "Lifnei Iver: Enabling a Jew to Sin". A bagel brunch and the shiur will begin

immediately following the 8:30 a.m. shacharit.

Rabbi Sacks, the Henry H. Guterman Professor of Talmud at YU's Mazer School of Talmudic Studies, has been a Rosh Yeshiva since 1994. Rabbi Sacks is the spiritual leader of Congregation Agudas Israel of Passaic and a descendant of a long line of illustrious rabbinic personalities. COAP on Sunday, February 5th:COAP, Children Of Aging Parents, (a sharing and support group for people dealing with the issues surrounding caring for their parents and other aging relatives) will meet on Sunday morning, February 5th at LMS at 10 a.m. Dr Jeff Shapiro speak on Aging and Neuropsychology. Community Shidduch Meeting on Monday, February 6th: A shidduch meeting, through the L'Chaim Shidduch Organization, will be held  at 8:15 p.m. on Monday, February 6, at the home of Cheryl Epstein, 271 Linden Lane. Categories to be considered may include singles within the broad spectra of Yeshivish, Chassidish and Modern Orthodox, including those with disabilities. Torah Academy Girls High School Play on February 11th & 12th: TAGHS is proud to present this year's play "Newsies"! Motzei Shabbat, February 11th, at 7:45 p.m., and Sunday, February 12th, at 1 p.m., at Torah Academy. Free Bala Library Concert on Sunday, February 12th: Although the Bala Library is undergoing renovation, their acclaimed concert series is continuing! Don't miss the final concert of the season, French Piano Duets, with Marja Kaisla and Gilya Hodos at the piano. You won't want to miss the balletic choreography of watching four hands playing at the same piano. Please come and support these free, high quality concerts in our community. This concert will be held on Sunday, February 12th, at 2 p.m. at the Woman's Club of Bala Cynwyd with free parking across the street at St. John Episcopal.

Chai Career Connections: For employers and job-seekers: Chai Career Connections is a new volunteer organization in our local Orthodox community, founded to help employers and job-seekers connect. Numerous rabbis and lay leaders have endorsed this effort, which has already made a number of "shidduchim". If you know about a job opening, or are seeking employment, please contact our intake coordinator Joan Betesh at coordinator@chaicareerconnections.org.

Friendship Circle Needs Volunteers: The Friendship Circle needs volunteers (8th grade +) to commit to spending Sunday afternoons with a special needs friend. Dates: February 5 and February 12. The program meets at the Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy from 1-4:10 p.m. the first Sunday and 1:30-4:10 p.m. on subsequent Sundays. Camp Scholarships: The Federation, in partnership with the Neubauer Family Foundation and the Foundation for Jewish Camps, is once again offering grants of up to $1000 for first-time campers going to a Jewish overnight summer camp.
